oh, fascinating. don't think I've ever seen an extension that actually uses the API. I only got into webextensions when I was trying to update this one since it stopped working. it's a pretty convoluted way of controlling media in the browser with rainmeter skins and/or hotkeys.

but yeah I lack the knowledge to make the native program anyway. currently it works by injecting this into rainmeter, which communicates back and forth with the browser extension on port 8974.
