State of Linux on the MacBook Pro 2016 & 2017

The situation: Unfortunately, the community-created drivers for the Apple T2-chip keyboard / mouse (etc.) for Linux kernel have not been formally submitted by anyone to the actual kernel project (and therefore included in the Linux kernel), at least as of May 2021. So, unfortunately, if you want to use Tails on a T2 machine, like 2019 MacBook Pro, without using an external keyboard and mouse, you actually have to surgically modify each new Tails release at quite a deep level, using instructions like what I put together.
