  • On Mac, most other apps have at least some Emacs keybindings like C-a C-e C-b C-f C-d etc. Since Ctrl is not used by other apps for menu commands, it's used by other apps for Emacs keybindings. You can bind more emacs bindings into other apps; see here and here
