It still may be viable to recreate the older method using the new webpack configuration. As you said it more or less is just using standard js and typescript. I posted an issue here that I will update if I can solve it. https://github.com/NativeScript/nativescript-dev-webpack/issues/1154
Will do, however after poking around with my public repo, https://github.com/gravity-addiction/nstack-monorepo i'm not to excited about further forcing my desires onto the nativescript framework. The feature that flipped me to using nativescript in the last few projects seems to be no longer. Quite the opposite direction with code sharing via package distribution rather than monorepo that I prefer.
