Just upgraded my home cinema system firmware via raspberry pi and spdif (coax). I was a bit mind blown by the fact that it can be done. Back to the subject, if you can stream to raspberry pi, just use spdif coax and https://github.com/mill1000/raspdif.

I understand that since around 2018 Spotify Connect can be used without a Premium account, and for many devices this is indeed the case. But according Raspotify on Github Premium is needed to use Spotify Connect. Same for this freelinux project.
