Been programming for 30 years. Never heard the term "esoteric code" before, except maybe in reference to silly ways programmers make their code unreadable, then have others try to deobfuscate it. A Google search seems to indicate that's probably the case, too. It's really not a thing, though. A more practical application would be minifying or uglifying, e.g. https://github.com/mishoo/UglifyJS
