Which DNS Provider do you use? Why?

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/pihole

  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • nextdns

    NextDNS CLI client (DoH Proxy)

  • There is also no requirement for DoT or DoH to be setup in the browser. PiHole supports DoH via cloudflared and I am currently trialing NextDNS by replacing my PiHoles with their simple proxy which works the same as PoHole but talks DoH out to their recursive servers.

  • log2ram

ramlog like for systemd (Put log into a ram folder)

  • I ended up using Log2Ram after I rebuilt just to reduce the writes on the new card. Time will tell whether that worked or not.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • Technitium DNS Server

    Technitium DNS Server

  • I use NextDNS for upstream public DNS, and have split DNS set up to an internal DNS server for internal domains (certain subdomains on a publicly listed domain I own)

  • DNS

Emerald Onion's Encrypted DNS Resolver (by emeraldonion)

  • FWIW, Emerald Onion is good for a lot of the same reasons, but they're still relatively small by comparison, and they're still incorporated in the US, where there aren't any penalties for violating privacy policies.
