If you want to feed your React frontend with a REST API, there's the excellent Django REST framework plugin for that.
If you're fine with just username/password authentication (which you should be for a prototype), Django already has that built in. No need for a 3rd party package. If you want to add stuff like social auth, try django-allauth.
