This might be a good request for the devs of DSN (feature request on the Gitlab page. I think what happens is that when the screen re-renders after re-focusing to the Foundry VTT window, all of the hooks for the new chat messages fire. Since DSN likely listens for these hooks to look for roll messages, it suddenly receives a ton of messages. It might be possible for DSN to ignore hooks that are triggered if the chat timestamp is older than a certain threshold, possibly as an option since this has been the behavior for a while and no one else has felt it worth bringing up (though I've thought about it from time to time myself).
