  • mini-prompt

🦊 Minimal and versatile bash prompt

I recently opened a repo for a little project of mine (https://github.com/kdav5758/MiniPrompt) and what I did for the first releases has to create like 3 tags as "v" and then created a release of the last tag as the same: "v-alpha"

  • starship

☄🌌️ The minimal, blazing-fast, and infinitely customizable prompt for any shell!

But then I see that in many repositories tags and releases are the same, and that confuses me a lot! For instance, these two: + Starship: https://github.com/starship/starship/tags + Coreutils: https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/tags

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.

  • coreutils

Cross-platform Rust rewrite of the GNU coreutils

But then I see that in many repositories tags and releases are the same, and that confuses me a lot! For instance, these two: + Starship: https://github.com/starship/starship/tags + Coreutils: https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/tags

  • Babel (Formerly 6to5)

🐠 Babel is a compiler for writing next generation JavaScript.

    Example using markdown https://github.com/babel/babel/releases

  • semver

    Semantic Versioning Specification

The best way to do versioning in github is using Semantic Versioning: Read more about it here: https://semver.org/ Is also what github self recommend to do.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.
