WorkOS
The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.
The biggest issue is the 10mb limit with SES, but if you’re self hosting you can attach unlimited attachments using some file host you’re using anyway which is probably more secure. I personally use Sharry but a lot of people host nextcloud/seafile too.
So yeah, as a learning experience, setup all the mail you like. For real world usage it’s not worth the hassle, and if privacy is your thing, use something entirely different, like Signal, or if it absolutely must be mail, use something like gpg4win / gpgtools, but then the hosting doesn’t matter, and it’s once again not worth the trouble :-)
This is where Mailcow is the GOAT. I do email and security admin at work as well, and I personally use mailcow. It makes all of this so much easier to get going.
