Nano is so easy to transact with that there's concern it's too easy to spam. As I'm writing this the network is processing 60 TPS and has confirmed 4M in a 24 hour period. I'm fairly certain Nano is the first project to reach 3M, let alone 4M, in a 24 hour period as it's higher than the theoretical limit of BTC (~600K) and ETH (~2.5M) combined. The nano network is not even saturated, settlement is still sub second, a testament to all those who contributed to the core implementation. This is quite incredible - it's proof that nano still has the potential of achieving bitcoins core purpose. Spam and real transactions are indistinguishable in impact. I imagine if these were all real transactions, there would be less concern and more celebration even though the impact on the ledger size and network resources would be identical.
Nano has an interesting advantage to explore layer two and wallet based privacy solutions given its lack of fees and ease of making transactions. I've started working on a wallet as a testing bed for these strategies. I'm aware of Nanofusion and other trustless mixing strategies for other pseudonomous projects (coinjoin and cashfusion). Please share any strategies and ideas on privacy solutions to avoid reinventing the wheel.
One of my favorite projects in the space is OrbitDB/IPFS, though Nano is quickly rising to the top. You probably haven't heard about it even though it's been around since 2014 because there is no money to be made off it directly. As a developer evaluating various distributed protocols to use in distributed systems, Nano is just about the only cryptocurrency project that fits my requirements for Record: a distributed system for audio files. Just some food for thought.
