I am reviewing OrbitDB’s feedstore for a DApp project and have the same question as the one that has gone unanswered in this earlier thread.
I could not find a clear answer in the docs, though the following passage seems to indicate a partial traversal of the log: https://github.com/orbitdb/field-manual/blob/master/03_The_Architecture_of_OrbitDB/02_ipfs-log.md#user-content-tails.
Using the example of a feed of tweets from OrbitDB's docs, if subscribing to 100 feeds and viewing the latest posts from each requires a peer to traverse 100 different ipfs-logs fully, then this is a rather severe performance difficulty.
