[Release] My collection of yt-dlp archival scripts with sensible defaults. The configuration files offer explanations as to why certain options are used and also let you easily comment/uncomment lines as desired to suit your setup and preferences.

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • sensible-yt-dlp-archive-scripts

Sensible archive scripts I recommend for yt-dlp.

  • ytdl-sub

Lightweight tool to automate downloading and metadata generation with yt-dlp

  • I don't mean to take the limelight away from this, was probably a ton of work. I used to have a similar bash setup at one point, then later created this tool to standardize yt-dlp archiving: https://github.com/jmbannon/ytdl-sub

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • hobune

A lightweight static HTML generator for self-hosting video archives.

  • I've kind of done the opposite for myself - instead of making yt-dlp work with Plex/Jellyfin, I've made a tool that generates a website from the yt-dlp info.json files, you can see a live demo at hobune.stream.
