A list of Free Software network services and web applications which can be hosted on your own servers

I know a lot of homelabers recommend proxmox, but if you’re a noob like me, I like to just go with a traditional Ubuntu Server, with docker-compose as my main method for services. Most project I like for my home lab already have a docker-compose file ready to go, so I can get new services up and restartable rather fast. Here’s a fun list of self-hosted stuff if you didn’t see it already: https://github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted. Highly recommend containerizing even your reverse proxy, I use Caddy.

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
