  Now a wild guess on the why of that, it may be because it doesn't use ffmpeg From what i read Powertube is a client for YouTube-dl[1] which is very outdated by now(so much that now there is a fork called youtube-dlp[2] and now it's what people use ) but the thing in those is that they don't donwload things in mp3 they use ffmpeg to convert it so I guess powertube just doesn't have that
