✌️ A spring physics based React animation library

I have been working as a UX Motion Designer for over a decade. Creating micro animations is like 10% of the job (and that’s usually the kind of work junior designers do because it’s easy). Senior level designers spend their time working closely with UX and visual designers to help map out how complex interactions work and then put together concept flows and motion frameworks for leadership reviews. Once a vision is fleshed out and approved, the next step is to work closely with engineering to understand technical constraints (there will be many) and then deconstruct the desired transitions into a simple framework that is technically feasible. You will need to know how to communicate timing in milliseconds and how to convert easing curves into values that engineers can plug into their code. In this field, it really doesn’t matter what tool you use. All that matters is whether or not an engineer can recreate your animation in code and how that is done varies across companies and organizations (for example, Apple uses spring animations which do not rely on keyframes at all). I’m starting to see a stronger demand for design prototypers these days and think that old school motion designers like myself will eventually be phased out in favor of designers who have a rudimentary understanding of code. For that, I hear that ProtoPie is a great starting point.
