I agree with that, but at least we know how they’re funded (that and Threema Enterprise). The donation-only approach for Signal has led to lots of users being locked out for months due to crashes on launch (I was one of them) due to minimal dev resources. A look at the GitHub Issues board for iOS shows a similar issue, except they can’t delete and start over. They’re literally stuck.
