The big caveat here is that you'll be dealing with Linux and that may be a little further than you're able to go at this point. So if you want to do some more basic stuff first, maybe lookin in to doing something locally using Vagrant which if you have a decent laptop/PC with 8+ CPU cores and 16+ GB of memory you can spin up a couple of small VMs and do the same kind of exercise I mentioned above, but on your local system, not AWS.
