QOwnNotes
QOwnNotes is a plain-text file notepad and todo-list manager with Markdown support and Nextcloud / ownCloud integration.
I'm using this https://github.com/fabiocolacio/Marker on GNOME.
Not sure if it has the hotkey support you want, but I've always liked ReText for its preview capabilities.
I generally just use a plain text editor for Markdown but you may want to give QOwnNotes a try
