For the 'TV not acting as a monitor but as an old school smart TV' problem, I installed LG TV Companion software (follow this github repo and instructions - https://github.com/JPersson77/LGTVCompanion ), assigned a static IP to my tv using my router settings and it now turns off (screen remains on just black) the screen after 4 minutes of inactivity (to prevent burnin) and what's cool is that whenever I move my mouse during that (or even when I turn off my TV with remote), it wakes up straight in HDMI to show PC feed, and not any crappy LG OS lol
