  Strava worked with Mapbox when they were switching over. I don't know what exactly the deal was, but Mapbox employees added a bunch of missing stuff to OSM based on Strava data analysis.

  OSM has lots of other sources of bias, so it isn't really an additional problem.

  For instance, someone has enthusiastically mapped Coke County, Texas:

  I haven't looked into it, but chances are it is just a result of them living there, and it creates a huge bias in the data in Texas.
