    The BG1 NPC Project adds a great deal of content by expanding the depth of character and levels of interaction with the NPCs from the Baldur's Gate game. Requires Tutu, BGT, or BGEE.

  • The BG1 NPC project adds a lot more interaction: https://www.gibberlings3.net/mods/npcs/bg1npc/ Core BG1 doesn't have as many interactions as BG2, and a lot are quite easy to miss. Inter-party dialogue is pretty random so that two NPCs who should be murderously opposed might get on with only a few jibes for the whole game, or might come to blows within minutes of both being in he same party. I've usually had a better experience with interactions between companions and other NPCs, but that can be pretty variable. IIRC there used to be an issue that it would only trigger if the companion was in visual range of the NPC, and some NPCs start talking as soon as any of your party spot them, so it was quite likely that the relevant companion wouldn't be in range yet. BG:EE changes the engine to BG2's, so they might have fixed that. A lot of the characterisation just comes from biographies and their voice clips.
