I've recently set up Neovim and just converted my Ubuntu 22.04 to WSL1 yesterday because the jump-to-definition inside Neovim took over 1min before finding the definition inside the node_modules and npm start was 5x slower than inside cmd. WSL2 seems to have a big issue with data-transfer-rate compared to WSL1, and although the corresponding github issue is from 2019 Microsoft hasn't come up with a proper fix it seems. https://github.com/microsoft/WSL/issues/4197 (jump to definition takes 1-2 seconds now with WSL1 and npm start is sometimes even faster than inside cmd)
I use wezterm. I can cofigure it with Lua. It's good experience.
