    Semantic Versioning Specification

  • Not arbitrary at all, but not super applicable to game versioning for sure!

  • Godot

    Godot Engine – Multi-platform 2D and 3D game engine

  • One issue in Godot I find annoying is that I haven't found any central way of setting the current version for your project that is then accessible in code and reused for all exports. There is a pull request for something like this, but it's only partial and unfortunately seems to have been abandoned. So I've added my own custom project setting for the version to have something I can set and then access from code and show in the game, but I have to re-enter this new version for each export preset when exporting. If anyone has a better in-editor way of doing this I'm interested as well.
