No, not at all. If your goals is making native apps for Apple platform, then you have to use Xcode. If you are working by yourself or just studying, then downloading Xcode from the AppStore is a perfectly valid option. If you work in a team, then you probably want to use Xcode version management system so that your version of Xcode doesn’t update before your team is ready. Xcodes CLI tool is my favourite way of managing Xcode versions at the moment: https://github.com/RobotsAndPencils/XcodesApp
