Last, since I’m also monitoring the hardware of the Raspberry PIs (3), one with Pi-Hole, one with Homebridge and the last is the Grafana server, I’m using a node-exporter that is very easy to install and only requires to install it: Prometheus-node-exporter. This is useful to check the temperatures/updates/CPU usage/etc…

Yes I don’t like Docker for the same reason. I had it running on my VPS only with an instance of umami and 512MB of RAM and I wasnt able to update the container, I was searching why and I found that the RAM was not sufficient and the update was crashing… only for one light container. In the end I had upgrade the VPS to 1GB (few euro on DigitalOcean) and I added a Snowflake Proxy with the daily report (just because the unused resources, at Le I’m helping someone), but Docker is very heavy, also the logs, the network throttling, etc… is all “centralized” inside it. I don’t like this way, to me looks like “the software isn’t in my hand”. Or like a VPN without WireGuard, that yes, it’s absolutely useful but what an heavy software!

I’m also building a dashboard from my Netatmo weather station, using a scraper from the Netatmo API (always on Prometheus): netatmo-exporter
-
and a similar exporter for the Netatmo Energy (smart thermostat/valves): netatmo-energy-exporter

For the Home stats I’m using a plug-in for Homebridge that exports to Prometheus the Homebridge metrics: homebridge-prometheus-exporter
