Lastly, the best way to provide feedback on the product is through our Github Issues. There you can submit a bug report or feature request, or add your support or comments to existing issues. We use these to help determine what areas we work on next with the product, and while we obviously can't guarantee a feature request will make it into the product we do consider all feedback that is provided there.
Again, blame Docker. It expects parameters in a specific format, so we ask for them in that same format. It may be worth looking at compose files and how they work as they will give you more of a configuration file esque setup which might suit your desire to edit running deployments (with compose you can redeploy your modified config, including networks, and the changes will be applied).
