  You have the paths mapped to the incorrect locations. Per https://github.com/pi-hole/docker-pi-hole#running-pi-hole-docker, you should be mapping $(pwd)/etc-pihole/ on the host to /etc/pihole/ in the container, and your dnsmasq data directory to /etc/dnsmasq.d/.

  I sent up a PiHole via Google for free (guide on GitHub). Unfortunately, like all methods like this (e.g. $10 Adguard), you’re not blocking terribly much anymore (outsmarted, cat and mouse). One example - Google ads (the not-so-annoying ones at tops of search results) aren’t blocked.

  Based on what I've read here over the previous month it seems many caught up in this tend to be older and dare I say less technically literate. I would therefore suggest people look into solutions like Pihole configured with an appropriate blocklist - this one might be useful but there are others. While it won't "take QAnon" down there's still ample opportunity to make a difference for those you care about. You also get network level ad filtration which is good for everyone.
