    A terminal for the web

    Project mention: XtermWM - Text-based window manager for the terminal | reddit.com/r/commandline | 2021-03-10

On the terminals side, when I first put the sixel code out there in October 2018, only xterm and RLogin could run it without crashing. Since then I have helped six other terminals shore up their image support, made some tests for new terminals, and reported on the work to the larger ecosystem. When vte's and xterm.js's sixel support gets out there, I believe we will have critical mass for images in the terminal to be the new normal.

This extension is now maintained in the Microsoft fork.

Project mention: Attention! As of today, updating the VS Code Python extension automatically installs proprietary software on your computer! | reddit.com/r/linux | 2021-05-11

But I mean, this doesn't prevent you from writing an open source extension that runs regardless of which version a user chooses to use, right? Users who are using the open source version of VS Code aren't forced to install the proprietary version with PyLance. The old extension is open source and even had a release just 18 hours ago - https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode-python

Project mention: How to navigate directories faster with Bash (2015) | news.ycombinator.com | 2021-04-22

We tried to somewhat mimic the finder experience when implementing directory navigation at Fig (https://withfig.com). Except of course, we make it all keyboard driven!

The methods listed in the article are almost certainly better if you know exactly which directory you need to go to (like a specific project repo, your bin etc) however often you don’t!
