* It is not available through the official packages repository. You could, although, try building it from the source code, however you might have to patch the source code and port it for Android; if you manage to do this, it would be appreciated if you could help the project by adding VLC to Termux's GUI repository. You could also use mpv-x as an alternative, it is available in Termux's repositories.

It is based on Raspberry Pi OS, and because of that most of its components are open source. As for its own components, I was able to find source code for some of them - here is the updater for example. It's true that the site does look barebones though.
