    As a side note, I use the trizen AUR helper program to install AUR packages because one of it's nice features over yay, etc, is that it by default shows the content of the PKGBUILD and any other files (patches etc) for an AUR package, so you can see or edit them before installing a package.

    Fast forward 12 years and I have Icinga2 collectors in each datacenter using check_by_ssh to run check_systemd, all front-ended by Thruk. The TIG stack is something on my list of things to look into at some point, but with Dynatrace available to do all the fancy application monitoring, there's no rush.

    Snort on the other hand is a real full-featured IPS and much more powerful. Using them together can offload the processing work Snort needs to do though. You can use something like pulledpork to automatically update various rulesets for Snort as well (community, Talos (Cisco), etc.). Snort is also a big part of Cisco's FirePower firewalls.
