Thinker by /u/induktio is great. It teaches the AI to exploit crawlers and boreholes and it ends up making the game a challenge again, plus it incorporates a lot of bugfixes. I play with it and my own alphax with most of the expansion content removed. https://github.com/induktio/thinker/
