youtubedl-android VS pip

I am trying to import the library youtubedl-android into my custom music app project but no matter what I do it does not work. I previously created a Xamarin app in C# but I am new to Kotlin and Android Studio. I followed the instructions on the github page to add the library to my almost blank jetpack compose project, and Gradle built with no issues but the library never shows up in Kotlin. I tried putting the library declarations in different places, using the dependency manager, and trying a blank XML project but nothing works. It always either says it can't find method implementation or can't resolve or just doesn't show up in Kotlin. Please help me I have tried everything I can think of.

dvd and seal uses same yt-dlp backend while dvd is no more maintained.

What best comes to my mind would be some sort of youtube-dl variation for Android, I found this one on GitHub, it'd be better if you could run it from a computer, but I found some GitHub repositories with Android implementation.

Whenever you are working on a Python project that has external dependencies installed with pip, it is strongly recommended to first create a virtual environment.

What are you implying will happen?

Using the build-in tools, you can save the exact versions of dependencies (i.e. a lock file) using "pip freeze >dependencies.txt". This should give you the exact same set of packages in two years' time.

If you want to be even more sure, you can also store hashes in the lock file. This has to be generated by a separate tools at the moment [1][2] but can be consumed by the built-in tools [3], so "pip install -r requirements.txt" is still all you need in two years' time.

Here’s the issue, https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues/11664. I think the idea would be to have some file/json description of environment that could be passed to pip to allow it to fully cross compile. They are open to supporting it just needs contributor to be found to implement it and go through review/discussion.

To be fair the only alternative is fixing Python, and even then you still would have to wait a good 5 years at least for all the old Python versions to dwindle.

To their credit, at least they didn't close it "works as intended" which I imagine a lot of projects would.

DEPRECATION: pydevd-pycharm is being installed using the legacy 'setup.py install' method, because it does not have a 'pyproject.toml' and the 'wheel' package is not installed. pip 23.1 will enforce this behaviour change.
