Gave Kodi 20 a try last evening
In summary, libarchive is incompatibe (didn't investigate, a warning box pops up) and is a dependency for a4ksubtitles so... It requires a new format for addon XMLs so basically no addon will work out of the box. Looks trivial but maybe there are further incompatibilities. Arctic Horizon seems to work fine. I didn't investigate further as I reverted to the Kodi 10 backup by accident. So a heads up in case anyone is curious.

To get streaming to POTENTIALLY be on par with your average 4K Blu-Ray requires super high quality streamable files (usually ripped from physical media or in the case of some films - painstakingly restored frame by frame from individual scans) and a local home NAS / media server + playback software solution like PLEX or KODI.

any os for only controllers (no mouse and keyboard)?
Another option is Kodi. It's a media center but you can install add-ons which can launch Youtube or Steam Big Picture, and your controller will be able to control it all. Kind of like Roku or a smart TV.

You don't need the dev team for that issue. And they won't help you with that. You can report issues here https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc but you won't have much luck there....

You can start using https://sponsor.ajay.app/ It's a community driven extension to skip parts of videos. So if someone marked those few seconds to be skipped, you'd never see them.
