Um modo mais avançado de se proteger é utilizando protocolos de VPN mais modernos, como o WireGuard. Muitos provedores de VPN oferecem suporte a este protocolo, que além de muito simples de usar e além do mais é open source.

Learn from my newbie mistakes
First of all; understand what it is the software you want to use actually does. I know that Proxmox is a Hypervisor and can run multiple VMs (Virtual Machines) and LXCs (Linux Containers) which is great, but there are a lot of options for setting up these things. For example, I really liked the idea of having my router be a VM that ran OpnSense so that I can run multiple router-specific things on the same machine like PiHole and Wireguard. This means I can get away with using fewer individual boxes (physical computers or servers), I have flexibility if I want to run *other* types of VMs that act as services for my router and I can very easily allocate expand, reallocate and change the underlying hardware for each machine. Lots of tweaking.

Just set up your own VPN with WireGuard for instance, and access your machine as a local machine with the mentioned software. No need to pay for cloud tunnels and such.

Add WireGuard VPN on my exicting PI-hole+unbound ubuntu DNS server on my old laptop.
Personally, I’ve stopped using pi VPN quite a while ago. I’ve only used there console interface. Don’t know if there’s a official GUI by now. But there are a few gui alternatives available. I’ve been using this: https://github.com/ngoduykhanh/wireguard-ui

Wireguard hosted on Linode question
honestly he can run any distro as long as It has wireguard package in the repo's, I'm running a DietPi Nanode on Linode (Installed manually cuz it doesn't exist yet in their images), It's a hell lot lighter than both Debian and Ubuntu images they offer but main difference is the tools offered by DietPi, for example they have Wireguard and Docker in their Dietpi-Software tool which he can use to install docker and compose easily (docker-compose for nginx-proxy-manager) and if he needs an easy to use UI he can choose from https://github.com/ngoduykhanh/wireguard-ui or https://github.com/WeeJewel/wg-easy both can be easily deployed with docker-compose, Main difference is wireguard-ui is only to make the config while wg-easy contains both the WireGuard server and the WebUI in one package (It has less configurability tho..)
