wine-ge-custom VS HeroicGamesLauncher

This is big, at least for some of us. I honestly stopped at the last FSR enabled GE, which was around GE-Proton7-55, and planned to stay there for as long as possible. Don't know who Ph42oN is, but deserves tons of respect for make it again possible. GloriousEggRoll provide a specific Wine version for that usage.

It's probably based on the Wine version of Proton: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/wine-ge-custom/releases is currently at Wine-GE-Proton8-8, which is specifically developed and recommended by GE himself for non Steam games.

Lutris doesn’t update its runner often at all. I don’t think Lutris has its own version of Wine 8 yet. However, GE provides updates to Wine-GE every few weeks.

In theory, it's 'wine-with-added-stuff,' but in-practice, it's integrated to use stuff in Steam, including specific environment variables and the like. This can be mitigated and built around, but seems like that would be more work given that this is a relative non-issue in that wine-GE exists.

3) In lutris add a new locally installed game, I use wine-ge-proton 8.2 as the runner along with DXVK 2.0, and VK3D 2.8 enabled (I'd probply reccomend using the latest version of all of these however)

Heroic Games Launcher: Support is limited to Epic, GOG and Amazon but the advantage is that it can manage their games itself without the need of their own launchers. Doesn't have support for tags currently.

For "normal" games you could look yourself using ProtonDB regarding every game released on Steam and AreWeAntiCheatYet for most multiplayer games. If a game isn't available on Steam you have three possibilities. First if it's available on GOG, Epic Games or Amazon Gaming, you could use the Heroic Games Launcher. Second you could try to run the launchers through Steam itself using once again Proton. Third you could try installing it with a script or tutorial in Lutris or Bottles.

ProtonDB is a community list of Steam games rating their playability. Heroic launcher runs GOG and Epic games. Lutris and Bottles can be used to run everything else.

I was a little confused when I updated my Cyberpunk install using the wonderful Heroic Games Launcher, only to find that the game now crashes during the initial load...

It's called heroicgameslauncher, runs on Linux and works with GoG.
