In either case (corrupted installation, drained battery) you should be able to boot Jumpdrive. Please get a microSD card and a card reader, download https://github.com/dreemurrs-embedded/Jumpdrive/releases/download/0.8/pine64-pinephone.img.xz and flash it to a microSD card, for example using Balena Etcher. Jumpdrive boots with a drained battery and a corrupted installation just fine.

I would suggest that you download https://github.com/dreemurrs-embedded/Jumpdrive/releases/download/0.8/pine64-pinephone.img.xz. Then write it to a microSD card using "Balena Etcher" and then insert the microSD card in the top slot and let us know if there is a question or if it changed anything.
  • Pinephone boot from SD / Bricking SD
    3 projects | /r/PINE64official | 26 Mar 2022
https://github.com/dreemurrs-embedded/Jumpdrive/releases/tag/0.8 I had a similar situation. After getting a pinephone pro my pinephone OG set idle for several months. I couldn't boot to the eMMc or the sd. I still had jumpdrive on an sd so i tried booting from it. It fixed everything although I don't know how. Now it boots from eMMc or sd just fine. I didn't even plug it into a laptop. After the jumpdrive screen booted I powered it down and removed the jumpdrive for pinephone sd. I fired up the pinephone OG to fix the modem firmware. Flashing the modem went well and the pinephone is ready for use should I need it.

Switching the OS is extremely easy. All it takes is putting in a microSD card imaged with the new system (or to flash the eMMC with a tool like Jumpdrive, once it gains the support for the Pro).
  • Installing Arch Phosh to Internal Storage
    2 projects | /r/PineTab | 28 Feb 2021
You'll need to use Jumpdrive, it's a small image that you flash on a SD card. When the PineTab boots it, you'll be able to connect the tablet to a computer using the micro USB and the internal storage will show up like a USB key.
  • Mounting Pinephone on Linux desktop
    2 projects | /r/pinephone | 27 Feb 2021
I never tried it the way you say. But I found jumpdrive (https://github.com/dreemurrs-embedded/Jumpdrive) mounts the partitions just fine.
  • Is there a OS release for the Pinetab that makes the device more or less usable yet?
    2 projects | /r/pine64 | 6 Jan 2021
Make sure to flash the OS you choose on the eMMC to get better IO performances (the OS will feel more responsive). You can flash Jumpdrive on a SD card and plug the tablet to a computer using a USB cable to have direct access to the eMMC.
