Highlight references in buffer
vim-illuminate (https://github.com/RRethy/vim-illuminate) might be what you're looking for. It also has Alt-N/Alt-P mappings by default for jumping between matches.

Should I remove require('plugin').setup() from my plugins?
You can add a prefix that's specific to your plugin, or just have a single field specific to your plugin's name which takes a table. Alternatively, in one of my plugins I use .configure strictly for configuration, which doesn't init the plugin, see https://github.com/RRethy/vim-illuminate/issues/112. The majority of configuration shouldn't be needed though if you have strong defaults, just look at tpope plugins.

Looking for a cursor highlighting plugin posted recently
I think you're looking for vim-illuminate.

Underline Word in Gruvbox
Ok, my guess is that you are using RRethy/vim-illuminate, xiyaowong/nvim-cursorword, or mini.cursorword. All of them use underline as default highlighting for word under cursor. And that you tried ellisonleao/gruvbox.nvim variant of Gruvbox, which doesn't explicitly support none of them.

Leap.nvim updates
setup is deprecated, use the opts table directly. Related stuff. Note that Leap is internally lazy-loaded anyway.

Guide: Structuring Lua plugins
+1, I avoided .setup in vim-illuminate and had a github comment explaining why it started and the alternative I went with, https://github.com/RRethy/vim-illuminate/issues/112. Got a lot of push-back on reddit for that. Happy to see some others dislike that useless convention.

neovim plugins that have improved your workflow
There are several plugins that do that: - mini.cursorword - RRethy/vim-illuminate - itchyny/vim-cursorword

I encourage you to add plugins to your vim (tip: use vim-plug). Use vimawesome.com for inspiration.

Add plugins without access to GitHub?
But the plugin manager https://github.com/junegunn/vim-plug can also install from offline sources, without accessing Github:

Introducing tsc.nvim: Project-Wide Asynchronous TypeScript Type-Checking & Diagnostics
To get started, simply install the plugin using your favorite plugin manager, such as vim-plug or packer.nvim. You can find detailed installation instructions in the README.

Vundle.vim does not exist anymore
Not sure if Vundle did anything particularly fancy, but I'm using vim-plug [0] and have no complaints. It stays out of my way to the point that I had to look at my .vimrc just now to make sure that's what I was using.
-
The Vundle github repo seems to have disappeared
I chose to move on to vim-plug and can report it was a simple switch from Vundle.

Just started learning LaTeX. I have a few questions
Emacs is a good software for LaTeX along with its plugin AUCTeX but you don't need to switch to Emacs since you already are a Vim user. I would recommend to install VimTex (make sure it is NOT VimLatex) using any package manager, e.g. VimPlug.

How I set up Vim for writing LaTex, Python, C and C++?
recommend first setting up a proper plugin manager : https://github.com/junegunn/vim-plug
