Need Terminal Help- either get command not found, permission denied, or zsh: killed- all for the same thing
Step 1: download the daily build, which in my case, would be App-osx-arm64.tar.gz since I have an M1. I just unzipped it to /Downloads/VDF

Unable to get Video Duplicate Finder to run in Terminal
I've been trying for a bit now to get Video Duplicate Finder from GitHub to run without success.

Czkawka 6.0 - File cleaner, now finds similar audio files by content, files by size and name and fix and speedup similar images search
Ooh this looks nice. And might replace at least 2 tools. For video comparison I currently use Video Duplicate Finder which has a few features this doesn't. Under settings it lets you check Ignore White Pixels and Ignore Black Pixels which helps lower false positives on videos with lots of white/black backgrounds or keyframes. There's an option to compare horizontally flipped videos, and a few more that are a bit more esoteric for me to understand. But it might be worth peeking at how they accomplish some of it.

How do I install Video Duplicate Finder?
Here's the link: https://github.com/0x90d/videoduplicatefinder. The directions to install seem minimal. Please explain for someone who isn't familiar with terminal.

Discussion Thread
I've used Video Duplicate Finder for this before. (Yes, it works on images, supposedly). It's pretty buggy but it does the job.

Finding duplicate videos, automatically delete lower quality version?
I use Video Duplicate Finder in a docker container on my media server. It shows you at a glance which version of a file has the longest duration, highest frame rate, bitrate, resolution, file size, etc.

De-duping files across multiple drives?
For videos though I used something different. https://github.com/0x90d/videoduplicatefinder - its not quite as polished as some software but the results more than make up for it.

CVE-2023-4863: Heap buffer overflow in WebP (Chrome)
FTR there is a WebP decoder implementation in safe Rust in the image crate: https://github.com/image-rs/image
It used to be quite incomplete for a long time, but work last year has implemented many webp features. Chromium now has a policy of allowing the use of Rust dependencies, so maybe Chromium could start adopting it?

Porting a local app to Web
Hello! So I have a local app that I am currently running on desktop (windows). I'm using egui for the UI, and the program basically opens a folder, gets all the images in the folder, and then uses the image-rs library to resize and create a grid of images / some other operations.

Announcing zune-jpeg: Rust's fastest JPEG decoder
We're currently looking for contributors to add support for zune-jpeg to the image crate. The image maintainers are open to it, but don't have the capacity to do it themselves. You can find more details here.

Does the rust image crate support paletted png?
It would be helpful to contribute to the general change towards an untyped buffer with runtime representations for color space information and fallible conversions. (https://github.com/image-rs/image/pull/1718). It's currently stalling on having too few eyeballs to judge the impact and need for that complexity.

picst - a CLI tool to resize clipboard images on the fly
It uses https://github.com/1Password/arboard and https://github.com/image-rs/image under the hood. I haven't tested deeply but I assume it should handle many formats out of the box.
