Nextzen has freely available DEM tile data to zoom level 15, so about 5 meters/pixel. You need a free API key [1]
Mapbox has paid DEM data to zoom level 20, but I think it's just zoom level 15 scaled up (but the data is cleaner and more recent) [2]
Nextzen also open-sourced their elevation tile generator, but I haven't tried to generate my own tiles [3]

- I'm an animator and I'm working on a project for Nat Geo where I need to create these 3D renderings of these two remote islands in the pacific. I need DEM maps, to bring them into my 3d program but I'm losing my mind trying to find topographic maps for them. Can someone please help me?

Mapping Software for Permaculture Design
Great question. You can check out your property at the website itself for a preview of the contours. If the contours are nice and smooth, this is an indication that you have good data. That being said, this is built upon open source data...so some regions in the world are lacking in resolution. You can look here to take a look at what you can expect with regards to data resolution.
