About 6 weeks give or take yeah, I don't think it's that much work. There's also an old open VIP200 impl PR available made a community member(?).

VeChain (VET) PoA 2.0 Testnet Has Been Outstanding With 2,500 Txs per Block
Check the github as well. There's been no commit to vip-193 preview in the last 18 days. No commit means the code has not been updated. So looks like vip-193 is pretty much finished, hence the stress testing we're seeing now as well.

Interestingly, this was mitigated in Geth v1.11.4 this March, so should no longer be a concern on Ethereum, though the authors note that forks e.g. BSC and ETC may still be vulnerable.
