Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

MediaMTX: Zero-dependency server for live video and audio streams
FYI until recently this was known as 'rtsp-simple-server', but it outgrew simply being a RTSP server so it was rebranded. It is commonly used in the 3D printing community for serving webcams attached to printers along with ustreamer (https://github.com/pikvm/ustreamer).

I am having an awful time getting my Logitech c920 dialed in. What webcam looks good and works without fuss?
uStreamer is far superior to the mjpgstreamer utility that nearly everyone uses. It supports the Pi's OMX media encoder, so you can get reasonable quality with low CPU usage.

Kilpper/Mainsail/etc and libcamera
I've been in the same situation as you and have been looking into https://github.com/pikvm/ustreamer as an alternative to mpjg-streamer under Raspian Bullseye with the unicam driver and the Media Controller API framework.

Looking for a simple (MJPEG-like) browser-friendly way to stream live video
Maybe look at https://github.com/pikvm/ustreamer

A pure C Mjpeg-over-HTTP server
I've done work before where we stream USB cameras via mjpg using https://github.com/pikvm/ustreamer
Granted this project looks like a lot more streamlined.

Raspberry Pi KVMs Compared: TinyPilot and Pi-KVM v3
pikvm is open source as well: https://github.com/pikvm/pikvm
In fact, TinyPilot is based on ustreamer, that is developed by Maxim Devaem, the pikvm creator: https://github.com/pikvm/ustreamer

Giving the iPad Pro HDMI-input using a Raspberry Pi
I was reading about the TinyPilot rPI-based KVM-over-IP project which essentially uses a UVC adapter to provide video for KVM over IP. It uses ustreamer, a no-nonsense way to stream such devices.

The privacy loophole in your doorbell
We used https://github.com/Motion-Project/motion for crude version of that in our office closet datacenter.
It just detected movement, sent an email with video file attached and a link to stream.
No face detect AI but this is ancient software, and minimum effort to set up

I used a Pi 4 to create a baby cam.
I had a similar setup to see what my pet hedgehog was getting up to at night and I used motion to do motion detection on the stream and save videos when it happened. I think you can also set a script to run whenever motion is detected. Might be worth looking into.

Debian based system to only view 4 CCTV streams on monitor?
You might consider Motion. It's reliable and uses little resources. It comes with a browser UI.

Keyboard Controlled RPi4 Car w/ Live Camera Feed
Yeah, I'm doing something similar, but am currently using motion for transmitting the video. It's pretty "high-level" and so I haven't found the need to look into how it works too much, but it is open source if you'd like to check out how it works. There were some other ways I tried to transmit the video, but eventually stuck with using motion because I found that there was not much delay (which was necessary for smooth driving).

Thanks wyze for not alerting me when a thief actually broke into our property. But yeah love the wind blowing the trees, bunny rabbits and nothing happening alerts. π
It is indeed annoying. My old jerry-rigged set up (Motion Project, old Android phone, and a 10 y.o. netbook) was able to filter blowing trees, clouds, birds, etc way better than my Wyzecam V3 can. As they say, if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself, but until we get RTSP we can't do it ourselves.
What are some alternatives?
