umbrel VS bitcoincore.org

I really thought this article was going to offer a solution, not just enumerate the problems. I'm already all too familiar with the problems.

I like what Umbrel[0] is doing. They're essentially expecting that just like computing was able to move from centralized mainframes to homes, servers are poised to make the same migration.

I think they really need to solve redundancy, though. If I'm to self-host anything important on a home server, I need to know I'll have some way to use it even if my home server fails, especially if I'm not at home when it happens.

I'd love to see some kind of system where I could partner up with other Umbrel users for backups/the ability to restore connectivity. If I knew that in an emergency, I could call my friend in town or my brother out of state and there was some procedure that would allow me to connect to an encrypted backup of what I'm needing, I would feel a lot better about taking responsibility for my own system.

Hello, I downloaded bitcoin core 25 from bitcoincore.org, but the only instructions I could find relating to the installation of the bitcoin daemon was on bitcoin.org (which seems to only offer up to bitcoin 22).

But if you check the link they posted, that's bitcoincore.org, not bitcoin.org That link is also the site that Bitcoin core on the releases page will link to as well.

I looked up the SHA256 hashfile of my download and it was not in the list that I found on bitcoincore.org. Is this a faulty software? Or is it just not in the list since I downloaded it from another site?

If you just want a node, go to https://bitcoincore.org, RTFM, download for your machine, and run. That's it!

No coding is necessary. Full node is just software run with certain configuration. You can download Bitcoin Core software here https://bitcoincore.org/

You don't need a raspberry pi, you don't need an old computer, you don't need to run Linux or make a sever or any of that shit. What you need is to download bitcoin core from bitcoincore.org for your OS, verify it, and install it. Congratulations. You now operate a node. If you can't spare the disk space?Prune it. Can't dedicate the bandwidth? Don't propagate blocks. Don't want people to know you use bitcoin? Enable tor. The possible configurations are huge and there are tools to help you configure it as well. Wallets like sparrow will easily connect to your node too, so you can effortlessly have privacy in your transactions too.

Thanks for the tip! Quick question, how reliable is bitcoincore.org? Since I saw both sites have the same app to download I was afraid it could be a malicious site. Although if I remember well the last version in bitcoin.org is 22 and on bitcoincore.org is 24.0 but since I doubted about the site authenticity I stood down and did not download anything.
