uhabits VS stretchly

I thought it was a great idea to find out how certain features are implemented in other people’s projects. I know two open-source apps that are similar to what I want to build: uhabits and tasks.org.

One example is use https://github.com/iSoron/uhabits for entering the data, and then export the csv to use with grafana.

Yup, it's Loop Habit Tracker.

Loop Habit tracker for example allows import and export of csv files. You will have to play around with nomie's csv data though.

FYI for those interested in the concept, there's already a great no-frills open source app https://github.com/iSoron/uhabits available that works offline so it won't take your data. I don't see anything ByteBeacon does that Loop Habit Tracker doesn't do better.

Take breaks every 20-30 mins. You can use any app to remind you of breaks. I personally used Strechly when I was on Windows, it is a great app for this purpose. On Linux, I use Safe Eyes, same concept, just some UI changes, and more features.

For desktop/laptop I've been using Stretchly to limit screen time. It pops a blank screen every 20min or so. You can allow override or not. For me it works surprisingly well. Forces me to get up the desk. Works on all major OSs and it's free and open source.

There is also a cross platform break timer call Stretchly. I have not used it but a lot of people have recommended it.

The last app in this post is Stretchly which is also a cross-platform app. There is a portable option available, just download and extract it to a directory and run the application, as simple as that. Like the other two programs, this one also sits in the tray and displays notifications during breaks.

It's open source, binaries are available for macOS, Windows, Linux and FreeBSD, and supports custom prompt text for whatever action(s) you want to do regularly.

Utlities like Stretchtly are quite useful for that.
