How is this much different than what tweepy does?

There are plenty of open source modules you can use, such as tweepy, which will make it a lot easier for you.

In order to use the Twitter API v2, you need to apply for a Twitter developer account. Once you have an approved Twitter developer account, follow the instruction here to obtain your BEARER TOKEN that you will use to connect to the Twitter API v2 in you code in Python. We will be using the Tweepy package in Python to get images from the Twitter API v2, so you will need to have Python as well as the Tweepy package installed on your machine. All links on your platform being broken generally is more than a client error in React. And it went a bit further than images showing up as colors. Facebook, Twitter, and even Tiktok have some form of api for developers to use (obviously not to recreate the sites, there are other purposes).

Links and images are completely busted on Twitter at the minute across the company's website and mobile apps. Clicking on one brings up an error message that reads "Your current API plan does not include access to this endpoint, please see https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/twitter-api for more information." As it happens, that link is broken at the time of writing. On top of that, the same error message is popping up for some users when they try to access TweetDeck.
