    No. There are other applications which lets you control the Ledger devices, in the first place the great application called "Electrum" from But there are others. Although Ledger is quite established and big and will likely not go away, even if the did, you could user software to control the Ledger. The actual important thing is your seed, the 24 words. If you are in control of them, you will be able to always control the funds that have been stored on that wallet.

    Here's the BIP39 word lists for Electrum. Make your own and swap it in for english.txt after you've installed Electrum and it should work fine. I haven't tried but easy to do.
