tree-sitter VS coc-rust-analyzer

I learned from a google search that these days upstream tree-sitter provides WebAssembly bindings.

Tree-sitter optimizes for performance (to use in editors), not for correctness. In fact even TS' core developers advocate for not bothering too much with correctness of grammars[1]. I imagine this constraint would be a deal-breaker for GitHub or anyone else in their position.

This is a plugin that provides a simple way to use the tree-sitter in Neovim and also provides functionalities like highlighting, etc.

Is tree-sitter really slower than TextMate grammars? Some benchmarks indicate that this isn't really the case [1]. On the other hand, breaking parse trees is a real issue, because the error-recovery in tree-sitter is pretty rudimentary [2][3], but as you said, it's not an issue for Shiki.

Several TextMate grammars suffer from inaccuracy bugs, and issues of maintainability. Perhaps the biggest hindrance in the adoption of tree-sitter, is that the most popular editor, VSCode, still doesn't support it.

Hi, so I've recently decided to give Neovim yet another try, this time using some predefined plugins with kickstart.nvim, for syntax it uses tree-sitter.

Rust

You can absolutely get nvim and rust analyzer working together. I personally use this: https://github.com/fannheyward/coc-rust-analyzer

nvim plugin](https://github.com/neoclide/coc.nvim) together with the rust analyzer plugin. It's given me the most complete, useful experience developing in rust on nvim. I absolutely love it and can't recommend it enough.

I use https://github.com/neoclide/coc.nvim with https://github.com/fannheyward/coc-rust-analyzer and this default config: https://github.com/ithinuel/dotfiles/blob/main/.config/nvim/coc-settings.json#L2-L9

If you're using coc-rust-analyzer, did you try setting rust-analyzer.inlayHints.enable to false?

Using this plugin I have installed several extensions like coc-clangd and coc-rust-analyzer .

It works pretty well with coc-rust-analyzer actually. but I eventually found the file tree in VSCode very useful, also the debugging interface, so I use VSCode with the Vim plugin. It is the best of both worlds how I feel.

Yeah sorry I thought you were saying to use the rust-analyzer vim plugin.

VIM users too! It is available as a language server extension for CoC, called coc-rust-analyzer and it works just as well as the VSCode version.
