Iam looking for a firewall app on android and there are many options like NetGuard, TrackerControl, InviZible Pro and Karma Firewall.

Assuming you're using an Android phone, either you switch to NewPipe or download TrackerControl. Both remove YouTube ads.

DNS66, unfortunately, leaks DNS over TCP (which many spyware SDKs like InMobi / Gamooga use) and (iirc) it also lacks encryption which apps like personalDNSFilter, Nebulo implement.

Blokada remains a credible adblocker, but it isn't water tight, nor do I (and others I have spoken to, like the developers of Nebulo, personalDNSFilter, and DNS66) get the feeling the developers really get digital security or privacy.

Or nebulo for android, quad9, then blocklist.

Blokada is pretty decent at what it does, but there absolutely are better alternatives, https://github.com/ch4t4r/Nebulo is one.

Thanks so much for your response, it was very, very informative. I saw on the GitHub for Nebulo they recommended a non-VPN method (https://github.com/Ch4t4r/Nebulo/blob/master/docs/NONVPNMODE.md#rethinkdns) to incorporate RethinkDNS (amazing work, from what I've seen so far) and chain the two together to be used by Orbot. I'm willing to test this method out: when is RethinkDNS anticipated to hit F-Droid?
