  • New to Touhou here, where do I start?
    1 project | /r/touhou | 30 Apr 2023
For practicing, I recommend downloading Touhou Practice Patch from GitHub. Your AV might react to it, but you can configure your AV to ignore it.
  • Does anyone have a practice tool for SA?
    1 project | /r/touhou | 16 Apr 2023
Use THPrac instead. You can get it from GitHub through this link. It may trigger an anti-virus response, but you can configure your AV to ignore it as it’s a false positive.
  • im bad at touhou games

We’ve all been there, but keep practicing and you’ll improve. THPrac (GitHub) is your best friend.
  • help/tips. please.
    1 project | /r/touhou | 16 Jan 2023
I would highly recommend using a tool called Touhou Practice Patch (AKA THPrac), which you can get from GitHub here. With THPrac, you can use it to practice specific parts of the games that the regular practice mode usually can’t do. Next, I would recommend looking up videos on how to capture the Spell Card, since videos can usually give you a general idea on how to capture specific Spell Cards.
  • what game should I start with (I am a first timer)
    1 project | /r/touhou | 25 Dec 2022
Hey, and welcome! Here are my recommendations for newcomers. All of the following links are on Steam. Bare in mind that, while the games recommended are "beginner friendly," bullet hell games are difficult and may not be everyone's cup of tea. To help with that I would highly recommend also getting the Touhou Practice Patch (GitHub) that overhauls the games' practice modes to help you focus on certain aspects that give you trouble.
  • How do I practice later bosses, stages, etc.?
    1 project | /r/touhou | 4 Dec 2022
THprac lets you jump to any point in the game so you can practice a particular spell card/phrase.
  • How would an absolute beginner with no proclivity for bullet hells get into this series? Any good playthroughs out there? Which order would be best to watch them in?
    1 project | /r/touhou | 1 Dec 2022
One thing I would personally recommend, as others have already recommended some game recommendations, is to install Touhou Practice Patch (GitHub) by Ack and maintained by 32th System. This nifty program overhauls the flawed in-game practice system with a much more customizable one, allowing you to toggle certain Spell Cards, stage sections, etc.
  • What game should I start with?
    1 project | /r/touhou | 26 Nov 2022
Hey, welcome to the series and subreddit. There’s a handy guide that should be pinned when sorting by Hot that can help you out. Whenever I see these types of questions, my personal recommendation is my favorite in the series, which also happens to be fairly beginner friendly. That game being Touhou Shinreibyou ~ Ten Desires (Touhou 13, Steam link). I also recommend people to install the Touhou Practice Patch (GitHub) to use for practicing and improving. Good luck and cheers!
  • Fist time ever post here, completely new to touhou, need help (excuse bad english)
    1 project | /r/touhou | 25 Nov 2022
In terms of the most accessible and beginner friendly title, I always point towards Touhou Shinreibyou ~ Ten Desires (Touhou 13, Steam link) as the bullet patterns are generally on the simpler side, giving you a safe environment to learn the basics while also honing your skills to use in other games. As always, I also recommend using Touhou Practice Patch (GitHub) to improve your skills.
  • It is just me, or the Stage 4 of Touhou 7 is way harder than the others? (Normal Difficult)
    1 project | /r/touhou | 7 Nov 2022
In regards to PCB Stage 4, it’s a considerable jump in difficulty from the previous stages, which can catch players off guard if it’s their first time playing. A good way to improve and be consistent with is to use 32thSystem’s Universal Practice Patch (GitHub link here) to practice the stage. Also don’t worry, your English is fine.
